A place to rest my head...

When we first moved into this house I was pregnant with Walker. I was not really in the mood for decorating, except for the nursery. :) Over the last 3 years I have started, room by room, doing makeovers. We had the entire house painted white when we moved in, except for the kitchen and the nursery.

Now this house has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, so that was a lot of boring white walls. I finally got Wes talked into helping me paint our bedroom, which would be a huge job. Our bedroom is bigger than our living room! It has built-ins that we would also have to paint around.

I am freaking IN LOVE with my new green bedroom! It has truly changed the way we feel when we walk into this room. It is so relaxing, even though it is a pretty bright shade of green.
I'm so thankful that Wes lets me do pretty much whatever I want in the decorating department. This project took us all weekend, and surprisingly we did not argue one time! Yay! That never happens when we take on projects together.
Anyway, just wanted to show yall pictures of my fabulous new bedroom! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do ;)

Yet again 25 Random Things about Yours Truly

So you guys have probably already seen this type of "survey" circulating on Facebook, but I found it to be interesting enough to blog about. It is very challenging to sit down and try to think of 25 random things about yourself, but once you get going they just flow right out of your brain.
Well, I really enjoy reading what other people have to say about themselves and I hope that you enjoy mine as well, and if you feel up to it, try to do it yourself. :)

1. I am the most protective sister on the planet, although Katie and Wesley would call me overbearing.

2. I want a dog soooo bad!

3. I want another child sooooo bad!

4. I don't understand why so many years you try to prevent pregnancy and then when you really want it to happen, it doesn't. :(

5. I am a 100% Republican, but I have embraced President Obama and am hopeful for what he will do for our nation.

6. I wish that we went to church, but every Sunday morning rolls around and we don't get out of bed.

7. Wes irritates, frustrates, and plain pisses me off more than anyone I have ever known, but I love him anyway.

8. I wish that I would not have had a certain someone in my wedding. If you know me you know why. She could have ruined it.

9. My dad seriously needs to cut me off of his credit card, but don't tell him that. ;)

10. I have not had a drink in 5 years. (of alcohol)

11. I wish I could say the same for Wes. ;)

12. I am so thankful that Wes and I have stayed together for so long. And I am thankful that we experienced life outside of Snyder before we decided to settle down here. We had some wild and crazy years in college, even though we were married, and I wouldn't change them for the world.

13. I wish that I would have taken more pictures in high school and college. You don't realize then that you are making memories that you want to keep forever.

14. I am truly shocked that we have a red-headed child, and that he is still red-headed at 3. We thought for sure it would be blonde by now.

15. I wish that my best friend would realize what a mistake she is making and cut her losses. And then call me.

16. I am disappointed that I wasted so much of my Dad's hard-earned money in college and I have nothing but some hazy, yet happy memories to show for it.

17. I wish that I could do what Brad Paisley sings about, which is writing a letter to myself at 17. Oh the things I have learned.

18. I wish that we were rich and I could fly to Germany anytime I wanted to see Clint, Hayley, and the boys, and my soon-to-be neice. I miss them something fierce.

19. I wish that Wes and I would have travelled more before we had Walker.

20. I wish that I didn't have thyroid problems that caused me to have a nervous breakdown that changed my life forever at the young age of 21.

21. I am an avid Red Raider and I will not wear anything even remotely orange and I hate that my car is maroon.

22. If Walker decides to go to college where they where orange or maroon, I will not pay for it.

23. I have tried, and failed, to go back to college like 4 times and I'm only 26 years old.

24. I have just learned that I have early stages of rheumatoid arthritis in my hands and again I am only 26 years old.

25. I have so many things I should be doing besides writing 25 things about myself. ;)

SHS Alumni Game

This weekend Wes participated in the Alumni game against the current Snyder Tiger baseball team. It was horribly cold and nasty weather for baseball, but Wes wasn't going to let that keep him from playing a sport he constantly wishes he could still play daily. Walker and I were able to sit in the stands for the first 4 innings and then we had to go sit in the truck because Walker already had a cough and I would just be a horrible Mother to keep him out in that.

Wes was amazing! He pitched just like he did in high school and college. The only difference in his game was that he couldn't run as fast. So when he did get a hit those young guys got him out before he ever reached 1st base ;)

He misses baseball terribly, and I miss watching him play. I was Wes's #1 fan throughout high school and college, still am. I would paint my face and make t-shirts with the #14 on them, and I even had some jewelry made with the #14 on it for high school and then the #19 on it for college. Us girlfriends would make road trips to all of the out-of-town games and we made memories that will last a lifetime. I wish I could go back and tell my younger self to enjoy this time and savor every little moment for the will pass too quickly. I would also tell myself to take more pictures! I so wish I had more pictures to document this very special time in our lives.

Walker got a huge kick out of watching his Daddy play baseball. We have actually not ever taken Walker to a baseball game before this one, that's sad I know. Walker was really a trooper too, because the game was right in the middle of his naptime and it went 12 innings! I was so ready to go, it was Valentine's Day after all.

So Wes is still sore from over-exerting himself this weekend. It didn't stop him from playing golf yesterday, which made it worse :( So now I don't feel sorry for him one bit. :)

It was nice to take a short trip back to our glory days and have Wes represent the Class of '99 well.

Yesterday I worked on treats for Walker's class all afternoon. I love to bake and this year I made Chocolate Chip Cookie Pops. My Aunt Peggy used to make these for us when we were kids and she would even dip them in chocolate and put sprinkles on them. I figured since I was making them for a bunch of 3 year olds I would omit that step. ;)

Walker really enjoyed eating a cookie on a stick and carried his all around the house last night.

When I was in school I always loved everything my Mom would make for me and my class on holidays, especially Valentine's. You remember when you used to make those Valentine "mailboxes" out of old shoe boxes and you would wrap in them in wrapping paper and decorate them? Then all your friends would put their Valentine cards in them, so FUN!

Well we didn't do those for Walker's class, I don't even know if anyone does those anymore?

Anywho, I find great joy in doing anything that will make Walker smile and this was definetly one of those things. I hope that he looks back fondly on these years and remembers every little detail, just like I do.

Shugie's Birthday!

February 2nd was my Mom's birthday and we cooked dinner for her out at my sister's house. Or should I say I cooked, took it out to Katie's, and we ate it there. They got to do the dishes.

What a blessing it is to have us all live in the same town and get to celebrate occasions like this together.

My mother is 46 years young and she is the hottest grandma I know ;)
The babies are always our source for entertainment at family gatherings. They are starting to recognize each other and since they are both sitting up now they can stare at each other :)
